The Preventing of Nostalgia
This theme of nostalgia as something that is longed for by the black community. You see this a lot in postcolonial literature of the Caribbean, too. Cottagecore and MAGA are two very concrete phenomena where we see the workings of nostalgia. Why is cottagecore so popular? Well, I think it's safe to say it's a Gen Z dominated aesthetic. There's a collective yearning for life before technology.
