The Importance of Women in Japan
There are several societal factors affecting women's ability and desire to have children. For example, shortages in daycares or a very lopsided division of labour in the household. Traditional corporate Japan has contributed to this by traditionally placing women at very early stages in clerical jobs. And it seems to be a particularly tough time to be of working age. Other Japanese government taking any steps to lighten the burden for this group.
