The self preserving subtype is the one we're most tempted to let them merge with our feelings and needs. The intimate nines are people who truly and deeply love one other person so much that they merge with them completely, their likes and dislikes almost disappear. The social nine is somebody who is the counter type of a nine who really loves the group and really cares about showing up as a happy present person.
