The idea was to create a compressed version of an image that could be read by another person. The researchers used high schoolers who were writing letterswel for their college omplications. They would spend whole days writing full text descriptions of what happens in an image. So all the things that you would care about as a human in your reconstructed image were there. But over allth size of this text, which represented the data, was less than the size of the file if you compressed it with existing pnologies.
