The Beginning of All Things
The hebrews called this to home the great deep, the abyss. To them, these waters represented cha s and disorder. When i think af this moment of the spirit hovering over the waters, i come up with a very different image trom those early readers or hearers of genesis. My own memories of water bring me feelings of calm and awe. I have often wished i could live for a moment beneath the surface where everything is quiet and where the light scatters.
