The Importance of Age in Transplantation

In smaller centers, the age cutoff could be mid 60s to late 60s. In bigger centers, I would say somewhere in the 70s. Although we have one occasion done someone as old as 78 but those are extremely highly selected patients who happen to be physiologic and looking much better. But I think the important message for our colleagues in the community is just not to automatically exclude someone just based on their age.
