MRI and CT for Detecting Venous Thrombosis
Non-enhanced MRI is more sensitive than non-enhanced CT for detecting thrombus. Blood flow in the durosinuses is seen as a flow void, especially on T2-weighted and flare sequences. Other imaging findings that can develop secondary to increased retrograde pressure should raise suspicion of venous thrombosis.
