The Origins of the Sun
The sun is not just a synonym for God the Father. The sun here is not just another word for God. They're not interchangeable or morphable. In verse 17, all things hold together in him. You will never encounter a thing that is older than the sun. And you won't encounter athing that's older than Jesus because he was before there was such a thing as things.
