The thing that I like about functional programming the most is the sort of subtractive aspect where it's almost like there's this universe of possible ways to do your program. And if you shrink that universe intentionally and intentionally say, we're going to limit ourselves to these, this subset of techniques, there are certain properties that come out of that that are really nice.
