The Spanish in the Seven Years War Against the Brits in the Early 17 Sixties
The fortress at mose was abandoned and destroyed during that war in the 17 forties. But it then was reoccupied and rebuilt in 17 52, and was inhabited for another 11 years. Also during the same war, saint augustine itself was blockaded and briefly bes iged by oglethorpe,. The spanish were able to hold up successfully against attacks from the british. And the colony did not fall through the war of the austrian succession in the 18th century. So this was a remarkable success for what had been a vulnerable, precarious, under resourced colony.
