Also during the same war, saint augustine itself was blockaded and briefly bes iged by oglethorpe,. The spanish were able to hold up successfully against attacks from the british. And the colony did not fall through the war of the austrian succession in the 18th century. So this was a remarkable success for what had been a vulnerable, precarious, under resourced colony.
