The Festival of Shavuot

In the biblical world, there are two harvests each spring. Barley is often referred to as the poor man's grain. The second harvest of the spring harvest is wheat. This grain is much more desirable and fine than that of the barley. In the Jewish mind, it's not Shavuot unless those in need are blessed.
