"We all have more volition and choice than we'd like to admit if we're willing to do the work," she says. "Sometimes you need to just go to bed and give your body a chance to come down overnight so that you can regulate, figure out what is going on." It's okay to also acknowledge sometimes our bodies are overwhelmed by chronic trauma such as adrenal fatigue or cortisol flooding.
