It doesn't feel like Marty changes that much except for the respect for his father. There's a scene where he has like a tape he's going to send to the record company and he stuffs it in a drawer, throws it in a trash or something before all the stuff happens. And then the end, he pulls that tape out and he mails it. So it actually shows he learned confidence. They cut it. I don't know. Maybe they just realized they didn't need it. It needed to give you the feeling that he's changed and everything's better. Two minutes of stuff that you just cut out. Don't stick around.
