The Future of German-Turkish Relations

I think there's a bigger issue at stake here and that is the future of both German-Turkish relations and Turkish EU relations. Merkel dealt with her political problem by reaching this agreement which opened up the prospect again or the possibility at least of sometime in the future Turkey joining the European Union.
