Constructing Latin America, Architecture, Politics and Race at the Museum of Modern Art
Architectural historian Patrisio Dei Trel is the author of Constructing Latin America. The book looks at how the Museum of Modern Art started shaping a notion of modern art and architecture well beyond the borders of the US. In 1939 Brazil opens a national pavilion in the New York World's Fair that becomes sort of a sensation in architectural terms, right? It actually continues a formal language of modernism that is sort of underpinned by a particular European architect, Le Corbusier.
