In the original paper by ericson and colleagues, they claim that accumulated deliberate practice largely accounts for variance in performance. So of course, with practice, almost all the time you get better. But how much you need to practise versus how much another person needs to practise might be drastically different. All those other factors are more than just the ten thousand hours. And there's such a difference between capabilities, it's not the ten thousand our do matter how much instruction you put it.
