Artificial Intelligence and the Cold War

Cognitive science became caught up in the political pressures of the Cold War. Department of Defense, through its research agency ARPA, offered to fund it. In return, the scientist's work would be used to build intelligent weapons. Adam Curtis is something of an auteur with a certain identifiable style. And I think not without some accuracy that Curtis's documentaries can swerve into the idea of style over substance.
