Introduction
Katie Hudson has wanted to be a pop star since she was eight years old. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, her upbringing was far from conventional. She wasn't allowed to go to parties with boys or attend sex education classes. Her first album sold just a few hundred copies before being dropped by record label Columbia. A new record label decided to take a punt on the 22-year-old Florida native. All told, it would sell more than 4.7 million digital copies in the United States alone.
