Hume's Idea of a Society of Virtues
Hume's basic idea was that society could, in fact, be made up of virtuous people. He didn't think they existed in the Christian Middle Ages or ancient world. But he brought them into the world partly by writing his history of England. That was perhaps the most successful work of history in 18th century.
