The Matthew of the Drive
The Matthew of the drive looks a hell of a lot like that of fantasy. There is a split subject, lozenge, living their life in relation to little A which is what I imagine other people to want and big D demand, societal demands in the case of the drive. It goes without saying that demand also disappears except that the cut remains. What's left is the cut here represented by the lozenge. Where the ladder remains present in what distinguishes the drive from the organic function it inhabits. Namely it's grammatical orifice. So manifest in the reversals of its articulation with respect to both source and object.
