Is There a Balance Between the Needs of the Firm and the Needs of the Employees?

As labor becomes more expensive or more complicated firms are increasingly incentivized to substitute away from humans and toward machines. How would you think about achieving the proper balance between the needs of the firm and its customers and shareholders with the needs of employees? I have a couple of thoughts about that. One is, when we look around the world, we see that other countries have struck this balance differently,. People seem to live well, and maybe also don't have the extremes of inequality that we do. So that makes me think we have room to move before we undermine people's opportunities to work. The second thing, i think, is that we should aim to structure our society, our relationships in society,
