In 2011, a number of protests turned into riots on the streets of London after the police death of a 29-year-old. The department hired 20 super recognizers and used facial recognition software to identify the protesters through CCTV footage. One man named Gary Collins is responsible for 200 of those identifications alone. They were able to recognize the faces because many of them were already known to the police so they could compare them to security footage.
