Dickens and the Signalman
Dickens' interest in the supernatural is mostly biographical. He never found anything which would seem to convince him, I think, of the existence of the supernatural. It was almost as though he was trying to get someone who would convince him, and he would go, okay, I believe this one, but he couldn't do it, could he? But yeah, there was obviously something there that was more serious, wanting perhaps to believe.
