i think it's working out ultimately what size or space you've got, and then looking for a tree that will fit into that space. i almost call them pioneer species - they're all trees that can usually fit into a small garden. After care, which we all often forget, but ther they need our help once are planted. They need watering, mulching, d maybe that first part of formative pruning,. to determine where you want those lower branches, et cetera. Andad growing a healthy tree is just as important as growing one in the right place.
