The Role of the Novel in Making Sense of Technological Change
Fiction is an artifact of the dream life, if you will, of the cultural moment that creates it. And in the end, art is really all we have left with which to recreate his human history. I am kind of fascinated by the degree to which everyone wants to create a story around everything. But i think that impulse is really reason able, because data on its own is nothing. It's the interpretation of that data that is the crucial element, and that is the story telling. We are drowning in data, but what? What part of it are we supposed to be looking at? And what are we meant to be making of it?
