The Importance of Bitcoin as a Settlement Layer

I think the value of Bitcoin is that it's the only one that can claim to be a neutral standard that nobody controls. That's how it's different from all the others. And that's why it can play this role while I don't think the others can. If we wanted money that could be centrally controlled, we already have democratically accountable central banks which probably do a better job with this than having programmers running it.
