The Great Migration of the Brown Rat

The brown rat has been eating human food since agriculture began in China 11,000 years ago. Art dates suggest less than a thousand years ago they got to Southeast Asia. In the 17th and 18th centuries there were a lot of ships moving around the globe. Rats would hang around ports waiting to board ships stocked with all kinds of foods perfect for rats to feast on.
