The Comparative Effectiveness of Hydrocortisone and Fludricortison in Patients With Sepsis
The surviving sepsis campaign guidelines give a weak recommendation with a moderate quality of evidence to add corticosteroid therapy and patients requiring ongoing support with vasopressors. They recommend hydrocortisone, 200 milligrams per day, as corticosteroids monotherapy and give no recommendation for fludricortisone. A retrospective study published in JAMA titled comparative effectiveness of fludricorotisone and hydroc Cortisone versus hydrocORTisone alone among patients with septic shock. The primary outcome was the composite of hospital mortality or discharge to hospice care.
