Student Loans - Should Students Be Scared?
The bad news is there's nothing to stop the government from making a retrospective change if they wanted to. If it had to go through parliament, this would be a much easier thing to fight. This can be done by delegated legislation from a minister. I asked in the past, i said the right thing to do in student loans is lock the terms and conditions into statutes so that the only way to change it would be a vote in parliament. Now i knew that they wouldn't want to do that, so my secondary suggestion underneath it would be to communicate what bits of the student loan system are fixed and what bits are variable.
