The Importance of Internationalization in China
There is this assumption that China would want to have remin be internationalized organization. But I don't think that's necessary in fact, because you have a model written under the gold standard with a huge exporter of capital. The US until the mid 1960s was the center of the Bretton Wood system and was also a huge exporters of capital. So what that suggests is that it is possible for a surplus country to run a large external deficit. And clearly, China is not there and they'll have a very long time getting there.
