The Idomean Herod, the Idiomean King, and the King of the Jews
Jesus is the true king of the jews, and edom is going to be dispossessed. The idomean herod might also recall some of the conflict between israel and edom in the past. This story is playing out again, but the roles have been reversed. It's as if christ is taking upon himself the burden of the sins of david's house. We can think about the fact that in the previous chapter, he has been introduce to us as joseph the son of jacob. Jesus is not just the king. He is the bridegroom of the people.
