CHAPTER

The Evolution of Carnegie Mellon's Computer Science Program

The Carnegie Mellon program was initially very sell side focus, it's gravitated to become more buy side focus. Pre GFC, a tremendous amount of the placement was to go work at the banks in some quant role. And so as you would expect a program that is very focused on ultimate career placement and career trajectory, they've had to shift their focus. That's exactly what these types of programs should do when the demand in the market changes. They should adapt. The core philosophies largely remain the same. It's just the emphasis of how those are applied that ultimately shifts over time.
