C.S. Lewis: How to Understand Jesus in a Post-Christian Culture

C.S. Lewis would probably tell a story and that story would in effect have two major focal points. Number one that we are in a mess and we can't save ourselves. And number two redeeming us would be a very difficult process which would involve a lot of commitment and love of love on the part of the one who did it. He asks us to imagine a diver plunging into a dark pool and going right down to the bottom and retrieving something, then coming back to the surface lungs bursting holding up this object he's retrieved. And that's us. And you see it's all about Christ diving into our world with all the risk and pain that involved to save us.
