The Importance of Historical Background in Language Teaching

If too many historical facts are presented to a learner without enough historical background, it can become a huge burden. First thing I would do is explore the society in which these languages operated. What was it like to be a goth in those days? Who were they? How did they live? Where did they travel and all the rest of it? And when you go down that line, then I think it eases the learning task considerably. Right. Thank you very much.
