Introduction
Peter Adamson: Julian the Apostate was a philosophy student. He says one of his teachers impressed him with an anecdote about goddesses and fire. The last pagan ruler of the Roman Empire, Julian would later take the purple. His ideas closely followed those of Yamblicus who set the tone for all subsequent pagan plate-nests.
