Is the Supreme Court Going to Do Away With Affirmative Action in Higher Education?
Supreme Court to rule on combined affirmative action cases. John Avlon says the court is prepared to say that even admissions policies which take account of race as one factor among many in a holistic admissions process are no good. The last time the court looked at this issue about 22 years ago, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor writing for the majority said she didn't expect there still to be a need for race conscious admissions policies after 25 years.
