Carl Icahn is an activist investor, sort of the OG activist investor on Wall Street. Famous for taking big stakes in companies including Transworld Airlines and more recently Netflix. He makes a lot of noise and harasses them to do what he wants them to do. When they do it and their stock price goes up, if all goes well, he sells the company.
