The movie needs to do for the main character to be likable. We need to kind of be on his side. That what purpose that serves. But I think we see at the end, it's like he is part of this horrible, horrible system. There is some like irony in it too because you're looking at a time where slaughter like merciless villages is like normal and they're fighting and murdering people. And then in the end, he ends up fighting and losing his life too.
