The Difference Between Static Typing and Dynamic Typing
The changing representation thing really kind of seems like the thing that makes changing representations take longer is not type checking, but type annotations. I tend to think that a lot of them are very easily categorized based on feeling. But then if I look at them and try to break it down to really specific parts, it turns out that it's not something that's actually innate. And there are ways to potentially get that in other ways.
