This was the final death nell to that way of thinking. There are many more voices on the realist side of foreign policy in the conversation now than ther would have been even five years ago. I don't think it would w be impossible for a serious project on the left or the right in a western country to get enough public support to do another international adventure like that. i meanw everyone's been watching china assemble its belt an od initiative for some years now. It feels like the end of a whole sort of moral imperative.
