The Different Types of Antibodies
People get a little bit confused when we talk about D and then sometimes we call it RHD. The problem with the D antigen is that the variability in expression from on different patient red cells. As many as 1% to 4% of the patients you type will have some variations in their gene. Some of them will be harder to detect than others. There's not a variation in the level of antigen on the red cells like there is for RHD.
