The Origins of Danny Boy
The lyrics to Danny Boy do not refer to Ireland or any place in Ireland. The song could have been set almost anywhere in the Celtic world. By the late 20th century, crack was so thoroughly Irish that it began to creep back into English usage. But even the most obvious cultural identifier language is almost never pure.
