India's ambitious Chita Relocation Project got a shot in the arm and one of the translocated females named Jwala gave birth to four cubs this year. These were the first Chita cubs to be born in India since the species went extinct in the country about 70 years ago. Three out of the four cubs have died and the fourth one is also reported to be very weak and is under close medical monitoring.
