Cryptocurrency Futures - Isn't That an Oxy Moron?
Futures are in vintages, mostly monthly and then annually. Contango is the cost of rolling contracts because time premium exist. It also allows funds that don't have access to crypto directly to short the e t n itself,. So then i'm shorting the shares of an e t f. That's synthetically a short call on bigcoin. I'm putting incredible artificial pressure on this instrument. And then the exchanges ought to be ashamed of themselves for the perpetual future contracts. Isn't that an oxy moron? A perpetual future? Now i'm speaking about the crypto exchanges. No, it's like negative distance or something. Doesn't make any sense.
