Introduction

Shigori Yabu was 9 years old on December 7, 1941 when he learned that the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service had attacked an American naval base in Hawaii. The FBI began arresting Japanese American community leaders hours after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and froze their assets. On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt announced that there were Japanese and Japanese Americans living in the US who had assisted or enabled the attack.
