The Importance of Understanding the Bible
We believe that there is a human author of the Bible. In order for us to understand it, we have to understand these literary genres and conventions,. We have to understand what these human authors were trying to write if we are to interpret them properly. Since God speaks in sacred scripture through men in a human fashion, the interpreter of sacred scripture should carefully investigate what meaning the sacred writers really wanted to manifest by means of their words.
