The Monopoly of the Semiconductor Supply Chain
One company often has predominant market share or in some cases a complete monopoly of the know-how and machinery needed to make a chip. The US Chips and Science Act which was passed recently entails investment of $53 billion in chip making and research. It seeks to lower costs, create jobs and strengthen supply chains. Top among those nations is the US which remains the brain trust of chip making but has long lost the position as its top manufacturing hub.
