The Importance of Credit Ceiling Fights
I think it's stupid to play games with the credit rating, but I will admit, part of the reason I don't like them is that they usually fail. So you're damaging America's credit rating and getting nothing in return, which is really stupid. If you can get something in return, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe if you could successfully force the Senate and the White House to agree to long term entitlement reforms or spending reforms...that made a real difference. But I just don't think it's possible to happen. And when you do get failure, it redounds to blame on the Republican Party.
