In recent months, there has been more attention paid to the local Chinese debt. This idea that eventually these local authorities aren't going to be able to sell bonds or they're going to have to default on their debt. The assumption always seems to be that the Chinese central government is going to step in and backstop them. So I guess my question is: Is this something worth paying attention to? Why does this matter?
