Is the Hornsdale Battery a Good Idea or an Economic One?
South Australian government is looking to build a new power station in the state. The company has had some modelling done by Frontier Economics on how it could operate. It would use an electrolyzer to soak up excess rooftop solar and grid scale solar, before using the power station to meet peak demand times at night. But there's still no sense yet from that modelling about whether it actually be that's actually a profitable thing to do or not.
